A History of Chicago s City

Leading Chicago architectural historians debate how global frameworks offer new perspectives on the city’s architectural and urban history, and, in turn, how the history of Chicago suggests new methods for scholarship on the built environment. This roundtable, organized in conjunction with the Global Architectural History Teaching Collaborative (GAHTC), brings together historians from major Chicago universities to reposition the city in a global context. Each participant will select and discuss one example of architecture, infrastructure, or urbanism. A discussion follows, led by Mark Jarzombek of MIT and Vikramāditya Prakāsh of the University of Washington.

Panelists:
Shiben Banerji, Assistant Professor, School of The Art Institute of Chicago
Joseph Clarke, Assistant Professor, IIT College of Architecture
Alexander Eisenschmidt, Assistant Professor, University of Illinois at Chicago
Mark Jarzombek, Professor, MIT Architecture
Vikramāditya Prakāsh, Professor, University of Washington
Michelangelo Sabatino, Professor and Director PhD Program, IIT College of Architecture
Katherine Fischer Taylor, Associate Professor, University of Chicago
