Gaius Fabius Pictor was among the earliest Roman Painters who paintings had survived. His initial name was Gaius Fabius. Gaius received the surname Pictor after his paintings of the temple of Salus. His paintings were preserved until the reign of Emperor Cius. A terrifying fire destroyed the temple and all of his paintings were vanished with it. He was taught to paint with the permission from Augustus and from advice of his paternal great uncle Corvinus. He turned out to be the talented painter, but died at the young age of 13.

Although, mostly known as the tragic poet of ancient Rome. Pacuvius was also a distinct painter. Some of his work in the Temple of Hercules in the Forum Boarium was mentioned by Pliny the Elder in his book “Natural History”
