The House of 1833; Historic Inn furnished with period 18th and 19th century antiques; National Landmark Inn;

Built in 1833 by Elias Brown, banker and relative of one of the current owners, the House of 1833 is a 19th century Greek revival mansion and national landmark masterpiece on three beautifully wooded and landscaped acres of gardens and fountains.

We always include our world-famous full New England country-gourmet candlelight breakfasts and feature a seasonal full size swimming pool surrounded by lush perennial gardens and fountains...dotted with sun cots, chairs, and eight glass tables with big blue market umbrellas. Relax...swim...bask...and enjoy.

This architectural gem is a mere 1.25 miles from Interstate 95 at the beginning of the Mystic River. Featuring five luxurious guest suites, you are so close to all the excitement, nightlife, and activities that the Mystic River and coastal CT offers.

Enjoy your signature 'chocolate chip cookies'..."the stuff dreams are made of" in one of our welcoming parlors featuring our floor to ceiling Renaissance Revival Pier Mirror (brought to The House of 1833 from the Boston Ritz Carlton Hotel)!

The home features two formal parlors for our guests to enjoy: the front parlor (pictured below) with a Belgian marble fireplace and center table from the 'golden glory days' of Hollywood's past and a second parlor (pictured above) with black marble mantel and a 19th century crystal chandelier.

All of our five guest suites have generous sitting areas as well as:

Enjoy the River Road, just down from the Inn. It follows a winding path close to the water...the perfect vantage spot to view the seafaring 'tall ships', discrete sections of the Mystic River's wetlands, migratory birds, and many beautiful Sea Captains homes. This picturesque road is the perfect 'Welcome to Mystic' and will lead you to the middle of the downtown historic district.
