I’ve always had an image in my mind of what my dream house would look like. Luckily for me Jon and I have always had really similar views on what type of house we envisioned ourselves in and when we found our little cottage we were both smitten.
Lately though our little cottage has felt like it’s busting at the seams and I’ve been finding myself searching real estate listings when I’m trying to avoid work. Last week Jon came home with exciting news, because one of our favorite houses in town was finally had a for sale sign on their lawn!
I’ve waited for years for this house to go on sale and even toyed with sending the owners a letter and asking them to let me know when they were going to sell.
Isn’t she pretty?! It was love at first site for both Jon and I.
The backyard has a 2 car garage and an attached studio that has bedroom, kitchenette and full bathroom.
I had to see the inside of it and see if I loved it. I quickly made an appointment to see it and last weekend we got to get a peek. There were some downsides to the house the bedrooms were small, but we already expected that and the kitchen is teeny tiny, which we didn’t really expect. The other snag is that it’s in the same school district as the one that we are trying to get out of so if we bought it we would need to put Hudson in private school, which is pricey! Lastly the house is a bit overpriced considering it’s fair market value and what similar houses have recently sold for.
Even with all of the downsides we still left in love with the house and could envision ourselves in it. We are not sure if ultimately it will be meant to be, but at least it got the wheels turning and we are currently getting our house appraised to see what we could sell it for, because we need to sell before buy.
